It’s Summertime, which means it’s grilling season and chicken is one of the most popular food items for the grill. We recently helped launch a sweepstakes promotion for the brand “Just BARE Chicken” who is owned by parent company Pilgrim’s.  The brand’s mission is to fuel people with wholesome, clean, responsible protein and it all starts with raising their chickens humanely on family farms.

Their #ThighsForTheWin Sweepstakes launched in early July and will continue through mid August. To enter people have to either visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JustBAREChicken/ or their Instagram Page at www.instagram.com/justbarechicken/.

Once on either page they need to look for the sweepstakes promotional post and comment on the post by choosing which one of the chicken recipe dishes featured in the post they like the most and include the hashtags #ThighsForTheWin and #Sweepstakes which will earn them an entry into the sweepstakes. Two weekly random drawings, one from all the Facebook entries and on efrom all Instagram entries are being conducted per week for a total of six weeks.

The Sweepstakes is giving away a total of 24 prizes and each one of them is a different summer item. The post on Facebook today is giving away a Chicken Pool Float. Some of the other prizes include floating pool wine glasses, custom branded corn hole boards, tiki torches, a YETI cooler, a Weber Portable Grill set and many more.

During the final week of the sweepstakes, the week of August 12, a new promotional post will be added to both their Facebook and their Instagram pages. This post will ask fans to vote on which of four designated cities,  St. Louis, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City, deserves to be the recipient of a Sponsor’s block party. So the City that receives the most votes from that post will receive a block party put on by Just BARE Chicken which will take place at an existing event within that city.

If you’re wondering where you can purchase this brand you can check on their website. We’ve actually been working with the brand’s agency, Osborn Barr, who we’ve helped run some sweepstakes for a couple of their other clients, but this is the first one for this brand.

Based on the current Facebook post the smokey almond & chicken mole recipe is the most popular per fan comments.

The first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs started on Saturday, April 14. Each team from both the Eastern and the Western Conference will play the best out of seven games in order to see who moves on to the semi-finals. Now I’m not a huge NBA fan, but I do know some things about basketball. The Denver Nuggets are one of the teams in the Western Conference that has made the playoffs and we are assisting one of our clients, Real World Marketing, with a sweepstakes for the Rocky Mountain Honda Dealers Association (RMHD) for their Denver Nuggets Signed Jersey Giveaway.

Here’s how this Giveaway works. Fans from Colorado can enter for a chance to win a signed jersey either on the RMHD’s Facebook page or their Instagram page. They then must find the post on either page that refers to the giveaway and comment on the post by answering the following two questions:

Question #1: How many games will this best of seven series with the Denver Nuggets go? Question #2: What will be the total score of the final game in this series? However, If the Denver Nuggets lose a game and are out of the playoffs at any time during the Sweepstakes Periods the two questions that the fans will then need to answer will change to include Denver Nuggets related trivia questions instead. Fans have to enter both questions correctly to be entered into the drawing.

The Denver Nuggets are matched up with the San Antonio Spurs for this first round. They played their first game on Saturday and lost to the Spurs 101-96. However they won their second game on Tuesday, 114 – 105 with quite the comeback. So the series is currently tied 1 – 1. The next game is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, in which the teams will travel to San Antonio.

Now this sweepstakes actually has three entry periods. The first entry period started on April 13 and ends on April 28 to cover Round 1. The next entry period runs May 2-12 to cover the semifinals and the last entry period runs May 14-26 covering the finals. So if the Nuggets stay in it the two questions will remain the same for each period. But if they lose and are out of the playoffs they change to Denver Nuggets trivia questions. Fans that enter both questions correctly during each entry period will receive an entry into the drawing for that entry period. At the end of each entry period a random drawing will be conducted to determine the winner of the jersey. A total of three signed jerseys will be awarded.

Last year we started working with RealWorld Marketing, an advertising and marketing agency firm that focuses solely on Acura and Honda. They currently work with over 20 Honda and Acura associations throughout the U.S. and provide marketing and advertising services exclusively to these association with the goal to help increase Acura and Honda sales. This promotion is a fun way for the RMHD to capitalize on their sponsorship of the Denver Nuggets.

You might have seen some of the very unique video ads that Poo~Pourri has created on YouTube while you’re waiting for another video to start. They’ve produced some very engaing and funny videos to talk about a product that no one really wants to talk about. If you haven’t seen this lady in the blue dress who is in the ads and has a nice English accent then click on this link to watch.

Poo-Pourri is a pure blend of natural essential oils that stops bathroom odor before it begins developed by Scentsible LLC. We are currently assisting them with their 2018 Breathe Easy Sweepstakes. They have invited people to show how the chemical-free formula of Poo~Pourri helps them to Breathe Easy by producing and posting their own video for a chance to win up to a $500 Amazon gift card.

Participants can enter multiple ways. They can post their video to their personal Instagram or Twitter account using the promotional hashtag #BreatheEasySweepstakes and tagging @poopourri. They can also post it on Facebook by visiting the Poo-Pourri Facebook page, finding the sweepstakes post and including the link to their video in a comment to the post. There is also this sweepstakes webpage that participants can visit and fill out the sweepstakes registration form and include a link to their video.

There are actually four periods to this sweepstakes and it’s now in the final countdown ending tomorrow, May 31st. Each week one random winner is drawn who will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. Once the sweepstakes ends, one Grand Prize winner will be randomly selected from all entries who will receive a $500 Amazon gift card.

We are again using the Shortstack application to assist with this sweepstakes. We have created this online webpage that pulls all the posts from both Instagram and Twitter that have used the promotional hashtag #BreatheEasySweepstakes. I wrote a post last month about two new hashtag sweepstakes we are running for Danmar Equipment that did just that. In their case we are also hosting the promotional websites so participants can enter multiple ways, either on Twitter or Instagram, or through an online entry form. So this is a new feature that we’re seeing more and more of our clients using.

We anticipate doing more of these types of promotions that utilize hashtag entries. Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18. It appears that this holiday has become almost as huge as Mother’s Day for marketers to get their products and services out if front of consumers. I wrote this post a couple of weeks ago about “Grads and Dads” that included the Templeton Rye Whiskey Sweepstakes as well as a shout out about my daughter’s graduation from veterinary school. So here’s a couple more Father’s Day Sweepstakes from our client, American International Industries (AII Beauty), that we’re assisting with.

AII Beauty also did run a couple of Mother’s Day sweepstakes that I featured in this post, which makes sense because the majority of their brands are beauty products targeted to women. But they do have a few brands for men. The first sweepstakes was for their CLUBMAN Pinaud brand which just ended on June 12. The brand was originally founded in France in 1810, and today its CLUBMAN line of men’s toiletries can be found in virtually every barber shop and men’s club across the United States. These products include colognes, after shave lotions, skin and hair tonics, talcs, deodorants, hair-care products and shave creams.

The current sweepstakes if for their Woody’s For Men brand which is running just till Saturday, June 17. This brand includes men’s grooming products that are directed at the man who is looking for a simple, comfortable daily regimen that offers basic, no-frill products that smell good and get the job done. These include various hair, shaving, body and styling products. They state that these products combine the cool, laid back attitude of surf culture with the style and quality desired by Hollywood’s finest.

A post announcing each sweepstakes ran on each brands Facebook and Instagram sites. The CLUBMAN Pinaud Father’s Day Giveaway asked people to like the post and add a comment that described their memory of their first barbershop experience with their dad. They drew a total of 10 prize winners, 5 from all those that participated on their Facebook page and five from their Instagam page . Each winner received a 9 piece Beard & Shave Kit, a Shave Brush, Hair Tonic and three 6 oz. After Shaves all valued at $235. One Facebook winner posted “Wow thank you. This will be a great gift for my dad.”

The Woody’s For Men  Father’s Day Giveaway also asked people to like the post and the comment they needed to add was to describe a best memory with their dad, or as a dad. 10 prize winners will again be drawn, 5 from all those that participated on their Facebook page and five from their Instagam page. These winners will each receive a 3 piece Body Care Kit, a Woody’s Barber Cape, 1 Love Grenade, 1 Woody’s Cologne and 1 Beard Stuff Kit all valued at $155. My daughters will have to wait till the end of July to celebrate Father’s Day with their dad, which will be the next time we all get together. In the meantime I’m taking him out to dinner on Sunday. Happy Father’s Day to all.

In the heart of Napa Valley is the Rutherford Ranch Winery, a family-owned and family farmed winery. They were named ‘Napa Winery of the Year’ at the 2013 New York International Wine Competition. The Rutherford Wine portfolio includes Rutherford Ranch, Scott Family Estate, Predator Wines, Lander-Jenkins Wines, Rhiannon, Silver Buckle, Round Hill and extensive Private Label offerings.

Last year through our sister company, Alliance Sweepstakes Services, we ran a promotion for their Lander-Jenkins Wines called Support the Next Generation of Farmers Sweepstakes. They had partnered up with the National Young Farmers Coalition to help increase awareness that farming is a public service. So for each bottle of Lander-Jenkins wines purchased, they made a donation to help support the next generation of farmers.

For the sweepstakes two grand prize winners received a gardening kit valued at $200 and 100 first prize winners received a t-shirt supporting the cause. They printed neck ringers, case cards and shelf talkers to display at point-of-sale in retail locations and featured the promotion on their Facebook page and website.

This year a promotion for their Rutherford Ranch Two Range Napa Valley Red Wine brand is currently running . The Ride the Range Sweepstakes started in March and continues till May 31. Three Grand Prize winners will each receive a custom-made Ride the Range bicycle by Detroit Bikes which is valued at $900. Plus six First Prize winners will each receive a custom bike helmet and riding jersey.

For this sweepstakes they also printed neck ringers, case cards and shelf talkers to display at point-of-sale in retail locations and featured the promotion on their Facebook page and website. Both of these sweepstakes promotions helped them to engage their fans on Facebook and to gain awareness at point-of-sale.

We set up the sweepstakes entry pages for both of these sweepstakes again using the Shortstack Application. Shortstack first started out as a Facebook application. They have broaden the capabilities of their platform and you can now install the app on a Facebook page and also embed the entry form on any webpage or host online as a separate promotional micro-site which we are doing for Rutherford Wine. Both entry forms are utilizing the same graphics and all entries go into one database. This allows for only one entry per day, per email regardless of what method they entered from.

All of Shortstack’s entry pages are mobile friendly from the start with Shortstack’s “One Campaign for any screen” design philosophy. Recently they have added some new features to the platform that make adding CSS coding very easy for those of us that don’t have much programming experience. I haven’t had a chance to visit Napa Valley yet, but it hopefully will be in my plans sometime during the next couple of years. I will definitely visit the Rutherford Ranch Winery then, but in the meantime I will be sampling some more of their wines. Give them a taste.

We will soon see the end to this year’s March Madness. It’s now down to the Final Four, South Carolina and Gonzaga will meet in the first game and then Oregon and North Carolina will play each other to take place at the University of Phoenix on April 1. Then the championship game will be on April 3.

So will it include the two Carolinas? North Carolina is looking to make their second consecutive appearance in the national title game, while South Carolina and Gonzaga will make their first Final Four ever. Oregon hasn’t made the national semifinal since the first Final Four in 1939.

The 2017 Women’s Final Four will begin Friday, March 31, in Dallas as the South Carolina Gamecocks face the Stanford Cardinal and the UConn Huskies take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The winners of the two national semifinal match ups will meet in the national championship game on Sunday. UConn currently has an amazing 111-game win streak, as in consecutive games.

Many people’s men’s brackets were shot by some early upsets and a few Cinderella stories. As always there are many promotions going on from those brands that are official sponsors of the NCAA. Capital One is the official bank and credit card of the NCAA and each year they run their March Madness Bracket Challenge. I’ve participated in this in previous years, but didn’t get around to it this year. They also have the March Madness Tournament Run which let’s you make individual picks at any time throughout the tournament.

Through our sister company, Alliance Sweepstakes, we’ve been working with a client who is not an official sponsor of the NCAA, but has come up with a very clever and  legitimate way to get involved with the excitement. Bar-S Foods, a maker of hot dogs, lunch meat, bacon, corn dogs and sausages, is running the Bar-S Bracket Challenge on their Facebook page.

We kicked this promotion off on February 28 and it runs until April 9. The team has been posting on the page at various times throughout the promotion offering chances to win a prize by leaving a comment on that post. Each post asks participants to pick one of the two hot dogs that they like the best.

In this post it presents the Texas Hot Dog vs. the Coney Island Hot Dogs. Five of these posts are each offering a chance to win a package of Bar-S brand swag. Seven of these posts are offering one grand prize winner $5,000! So all the comments made on all seven posts will be included in the random drawing for the grand prize which will take place next week.

The participation has been great with anywhere from 700 to over a 1,000 comments on each post. There will be one more post for a chance at the grand prize and there are two more posts that will offer the brand swag package. So you still have time to check it out and play.

As far as the Final Four, Vegas is giving the men’s tournament to North Carolina and the women’s they are also with the UConn Huskies. We’ll see if each team can pull it off.

The first official day of the Summer of 2016 occurred this week. The days are long and the nights are warm. What will be the major trends, events, happenings and songs of this summer?  We have been blessed with some beautiful, sunny days here in western New York, but the heat is on across the county, especially in the southwest.

We’re administering this new sweepstakes and working through The S3 Agency, the same agency that we helped launched OCM’s “Room Goals Instant Giveaway” that I wrote about last week.

Eight O’Clock Coffee is giving away a total of 20 instant prizes which are available to be won from now till the end of the sweepstakes which is July 13. These instant prizes consist of an iced coffee package that includes two iced coffee tumblers, one cold brew coffee maker, one silicone ice cube tray, one coupon good for a free Eight O’Clock coffee, one Eight O’Clock mini-tote bag and some recipes for cold coffee.

To enter the Chill in Italy Sweepstakes participants are invited to the Eight-Clock Coffee Facebook page and then directed to the promotion page by clicking on either the Facebook profile photo at the top of the page, the sweepstakes post at the top of their timeline, or the “Chill in Italy Sweepstakes” tab.  They need to fill out the required fields on the entry form. Once submitted they will gain one entry into the sweepstakes and immediately be informed if they are an instant winner or not.

Participants can enter and play for a chance to win one of the 20 instant prizes once every 24 hours. Those that do not win an instant prize are encouraged to “Chill Out” and come back tomorrow to try again. In the meantime they are given this recipe for  Tiramisu iced coffee made with Eight O’Clock Dark Italian Espresso Coffee. This looks delicious, so I’m going to give it a try…ice cream and dark coffee, two of my favorites! We’ve been celebrating, Grads, Dads and Brides during this month of June. But even though the graduation ceremonies and parties are still going on, the back-to-school shopping season has also kicked-off. This year, back-to-school retail sales will reach $828.81 billion, based on a recent report from eMarketer who also predicts a higher share than ever is already occurring online. While most back-to-school shopping occurs over the month of August, 52% begin before then—including around one in four who are already shopping by the end of June.

We’ve been working with OCM’s agency, The S3 Agency. Participants are invited to visit the OCM Facebook page and click the link to open the Sweepstakes page where they can enter once a day up till July 31.

OCM-WinOCM is giving away eight complete dorm room make overs each valued at $575. One instant prize per week is available to be won.  All they need to do enter their email address and name and instantly find out if they are a winner.

I tried to win and of course got the “Sorry” message. The “Winning” Instant Win play will be awarded based on the number of entries and the  timing of the play each week. Prize winners will be contacted by email on each Friday.

Playing games is not one of my favorite pastimes, but it is big with some of my younger friends and family members, and they’re part of a huge market. The global gaming market is predicted to hit $93 billion by 2019 and should continue growing at least for the rest of the decade. That’s the latest assessment from PricewaterhouseCoopers from in it’s Global and Entertainment Media Outlook 2015-2019 report.

BANDI NAMCO logoI mention this because we recently signed a 6-month contract to handle the administration of some sweepstakes giveaways and contests for BANDI NAMCO Entertainment America for their Anime Games. BANDI NAMCO Entertainment specializes in the production and sales of home and portable video games on all platforms. They also offer free games across the web and social media as well as mobile.

Digimon DVDThe promotions that we will be administering will be promoted on the company’s Play Anime Games Facebook page. The first sweepstakes started on Monday and will be running till end of Sunday, March 13. The giveaway is for a chance to win the ULTIMATE Digimon DVD box set Giveaway which features 4 seasons of Digital Monsters, 32 DVD’s! The agency that we are working with is utilizing the Woobox platform to collect the entries. So may the best Digi-Fan win. There will be more to come!

A client from our sister company, Alliance Sweepstakes, that they are continuing to work with on 2016 promotions is Deschutes Brewery, a craft beer company located in Oregon. They again are running another text-to-win sweepstakes promotion and just kicked off a new one in February. To enter the DrinkTanks Juggernaut Sweepstakes consumers are first invited to text the keyword “Juggernaut” to the shortcode 65047. They will then receive a text message back with a link to the sweepstakes entry page located on the Sponsor’s website.

The mobile provider is Momares  that is utilizing their Solark platform that enables us to offer this service to our clients. I featured  this post that Marcos Menendez , one of the co-founders of Momares,  wrote that speaks to the benefits of utilizing text messaging.

Both of these promotions that I featured today are a great example of how to market to Millennials, those 18-34. They prefer to use text messaging over emails and they like games. Millennials are now the largest population in the U.S. at 77 million. So we marketers should all be planning on how to best reach them, not just beer and game companies!

Experience Kissimmee is getting ready to hit the one million mark. At the time of this post they currently have 947,903 fans who have liked their Facebook page. So in anticipation of this memorable event they will be running their “Thanks a Million” Sweepstakes on their Facebook page.

Experience Kissimmee FB ImageStarting next week and running through the rest of the summer till September 4, Experience Kissimmee will invite fans to visit their page to see a weekly promotional post. These weekly posts by the Sponsor will ask fans to comment on the promotional post by sharing a photo along with a personal thank you note. By doing so the person will  be entered into the sweepstakes.

At the end of each week Experience Kissimmee will  select two of these thank you notes to feature on their Facebook page. Those two people will be the weekly winners who will  each receive a Kissimmee “Thanks A Million” Vacation Essentials set that includes an Apple iPod Nano, a tote bag, sunglasses, sunscreen, Chapstick, a pool towel, a Bluetooth speaker, a drink koozie and a 16″ beach ball. They will also receive an entry into the grand prize drawing to be held at the end of the sweepstakes, right around the time Experience Kissimmee expects to hit it’s one millionth fan!

The package includes round trip airfare and a week’s vacation rental provided by Jeeve’s Holiday Homes. Also included are lots of passes to area attractions including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. The grand prize package is valued at $11,154 which makes it the highest value prize that Experience Kissimmee has offered in our history of working with them.

Now we all know that building a fanbase isn’t easy. It takes time to get people to like you on your Facebook page. So we have to congratulate the team at Experience Kissimmee for all their hard work that they have put into this page. It now is hopefully starting to pay off for them. However, they still need to work hard though in order to keep these fans.

Running these types of sweepstakes promotions are great ways to engage with fans. This promotion in particular is asking fans to share both a photo and a message. In doing so, two people a week will have their posts featured for all to see. While most of the sweepstakes that we administer on Facebook are done through a 3rd party app on a tab page, this one is a great example of running it on the page itself. While the Sponsor will not be collecting person data on the participants (email addresses, full names, etc), they will instead gain many valuable insights into their brand from the posts people will share. That will hopefully be worth the huge investment that they have made.
