Another blast of arctic cold is supposed to swoop down on us this week and bring sub-zero temperatures back along with more snow! It’s been hitting a good portion of this country this month, but those of us in New York and New England have seen the worst of it with Boston breaking historical records. Enough is enough already!

Experience-Kiss-AdSo the only thing to do is get on a plane and head south. The team we’re working with at Experience Kissimmee is taking full advantage of this cold winter weather. They’re running the “Kiss the Cold Good-bye” Sweepstakes for chances to win a Sunny Florida Getaway. The sweepstakes is specifically targeting those in Boston and New York.

Participants can easily enter by texting the keyword “Warm” to the shortcode 82257 which prompts them to enter their email address to complete their entry. Once completed they receive one more message which thanks them for participating and asks them to reply YES to subscribe to future SMS messages from Experience Kissimmee. Utilizing sweepstakes is a great way to grow a database of mobile subscribers.

The Sweepstakes launched on January 12 and runs till April 12. Each week we’re conducting a random drawing for one winner who will receive a “Box of Sunshine” that includes a Kissimmee tote bag packed with flip flops, an alligator plush, sunglasses, orange gum, sunscreen, chapstick, a pool towel, a bluetooth speaker, a drink koozie, a beach ball and a swirl lollipop.

KCA-CTA3Then four times during the Sweepstakes period a winner will be drawn to receive a Kissimmee getaway for winner and up to 3 guests which includes round trip airfare tickets, 6 day/5 night hotel accommodations, a vehicle rental and a bunch of activities such as park tickets to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Universal Orlando Resort and also tickets to Orlando Tree Trek, Boggy Creek Airboat Rides and a 2-hour guided tour for the Paddling Center. We’ve already awarded one of these trips, so there are 3 more left!

For those that would like more information they can visit online at KissColdAway.com to plan their own getaway and enter the sweepstakes as well. Participants can enter once every 24-hour period for a chance to win. Each week, as the weather gets worse and worse, the entries keep growing. Last week was another record breaking week with 28,770 entries.

Experience Kissimmee has been running ads in these select markets to create awareness of the sweepstakes. Here’s a taxi ad that’s running in Boston. Hopefully the taxi’s are helping people get around Boston that can’t get their car shoveled out. A similar ad in also running in New York City.

Boston Taxi AdWe just awarded a trip to Florida for another sweepstakes and the winner, who was from Connecticut, wanted to know if she could go next week! That’s how much we all want to get away from this winter right now.  Good news is we’re in the second half of the month of February and more then ready to Kiss it Good-bye! So hang in there!

Football and taxes are both about as American as Uncle Sam. Moving forward from Super Bowl 49, we all in the U.S. now have to focus on tax season. Yeah. it’s that time of the year when we have to file our taxes for the previous year. Those of us on the business side also have to issue W2 forms to all employees and 1099 forms to contractors, vendors as well as those who were lucky enough to win a prize!

TaxSimple-FBSince we’re in the business of awarding prizes we have to send 1099 forms to all winner of a prize valued at $600 or more. It’s our Federal government law. So each year at this time we get many inquiries from winners who don’t remember why they received a 1099, even though they signed an affidavit stating that they accept the prize and understand they’ll receive a 1099. Or those that won a trip and decided to tell us at the last minute.that they can’t travel either because of their schedule or other personal reasons. Then of course there’s those who moved and didn’t forward their mail and wonder why they haven’t received it!

This year our sister company, Alliance Sweepstakes,  helped launch TaxSimple’s All About the Bank Contest. TaxSimple is a new online tax preparation software that is easy, fast, and low-cost. It is part of the Tax & Accounting Division of Thomson Reuters, which is the sponsor. They started running this contest on their Facebook page on Jan. 19th and it runs till April 16, the day after the tax filing deadline.

tax simple Cover photoParticipants are invited to visit the Facebook Tax Simple page and submit a photo that depicts what they would like to do with their tax refund this year for a chance at winning $5,000. Since the contest is heavily focused on college students, they also have the option of first posting their photo on Instagram and linking to their Instagram account from the entry form. All approved entries are displayed in the contest photo gallery and the public is invited to vote on their favorite entry.

At the end of the contest a panel of judges will choose a winner based on the following criteria: 45% public appeal (number of votes), 30% creativity and originality and 25% composition and quality. The entries have ranged from those that want to take their family on a vacation, to those who need it to pay for college as well putting the money towards a home. TaxSimple Entry

This recent photo depicts what it’s like right now to live in the northeast part of this country.  Here’s the caption that goes with it: “Wanna trade some snow for some sand , my girls are delirious”. Yeah, we’re all pretty sick of this snow by now!

Super-Bowl-49-LogoSuper Bowl XLIX, along with all the hype and marketing, is now history. Congratulations to the New England Patriots on their win. I’m a Buffalo Bills fan and therefore not a Patriots fan, but I was glad to see them win this championship. As they say, “may the best team win” and in my opinion they did.

The broadcast of the game on NBC broke the record for U.S. TV viewing at about 114.4 million, which does not even include all those extra fans that watched the game at sports bars and Super Bowl parties all from the same TV’s. It topped last year’s record of 112.2 million on Fox and is the seventh straight year it reached over a million viewers. The halftime show, which featured Katy Perry, Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz, also set a viewing record, with 118.5 million viewers. To put this in context, the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games this year only had 31.7 million viewers.

Katy Perry HalftimeSpeaking of the Olympics, when did the Super Bowl Halftime show get as big as the opening ceremony of the Olympic games? I’m not a Katy Perry fan, however I agree she does have talent. The show was pretty amazing, fireworks and dancing sharks! Yes, Missy Elliott as they say knocked it out of the park. Our Rochester winners of the Pepsi Hyped for Halftime Contest where thrilled to be right on the field watching the show. See this article which reports on how much they loved it. Next up we’ll be seeing the Katy Perry Show, the Musical, show up on Broadway!

Budweiser-Puppy-Ad

As for the ads, Budweiser appeared to take the trophy again this year for the best ad with their “Lost Dog” Puppy sequel ad which I do love and don’t mind seeing again. I like the Snickers Brady Bunch ad which I thought was funny and very clever. One of my favorite brands, Dove, hit another home run with their Men Cares ad. I thought it had a double meaning though, poking some ridicule at the NFL for all the domestic abuse issues this year. I’m surprised that I haven’t seen anyone mention this in all the ad critiques that I’ve read. I also was moved by the Always “Like a Girl” ad, but I’ve seen the video before. So what are your favorite ads?

This year especially, it wasn’t just about the ads. It was more about how marketing campaigns integrated with digital and social media. “It used to be all about having this incredible Super Bowl commercial. [Now] you can’t have a campaign without social media.” as quoted by Linda Lagos of PepsiCo from Reuters. The campaign that really impressed me came from McDonald’s, who not only ran an ad during the game, but tied it in with a twitter campaign and sweepstakes promotion.

Lovin-WinsThe McDonald’s Lovin’ Wins Sweepstakes took place during the Super Bowl broadcast, starting at the first national Super Bowl -Tweetscommercial break and ending at 2:59 am ET. The McDonald’s team was tweeting like crazy, almost every minute, about other marketer’s spots and using the word “lovin’ in each Tweet which earned them thousands of retweets. Here is a sample of some of the Tweets, even one about Jublia’s toe fungus ad.

Participants had to retweet one of the posts to be entered in the Sweepstakes for a chance to win the prize from that specific post. McDonald’s had a total of 50 different prizes, one for each tweet they posted. The smallest prize was 12 Loctite packages of 10g Control Gel Super Glue and a leather fanny pack valued at $66.63. The largest was a 2015 BMWi3 with some extra features valued at $48,980. The total prize pool value was $339,121.11. Some Twitter viewers where really “Lovin'” this promotion.

There is now quite a bit of data that marketers can take away from this year’s “Big Game”, from those that both ran a commercial and those that didn’t. At the same time, the teams of the NFL have much to review and to decide for the upcoming Road to Super Bowl 50!  That’s my wrap of up Super Bowl 49! Hope you enjoyed it. Now it’s back to business as usual.

Tweet #VolvoContest during a Super Bowl Car Commercial and you could put someone in a new Volvo!

If you want to enjoy some chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday you’d better stock up on them now! The National Chicken Council says it estimates that Americans will eat 1.25 billion wings this Sunday to celebrate the Big Game. We in western New York love our chicken wings. In fact the Buffalo Bills treated the Detroit Lions to Buffalo wings to thank them for letting the Bills play a Monday night game in their stadium when Ralph Wilson Stadium was buried in snow!

The National Retail Federation says it expects 184 million fans to tune in to Super Bowl XLIX, and that the average viewer will spend $77.88 to celebrate. That adds up to $14.3 billion! That’s shows how powerful the NFL is for this economy. Let’s not have any more of this Deflate-Gate nonsense!

Volvo just announced something interesting that they’re doing this year to tap into those 184 million fans! There are many automotive brands that are running an ad during the Super Bowl 49 broadcast, but not Volvo. Instead it wants viewers to Tweet when one of their competitor’s ad is running. This promotion “The Greatest Interception Ever,” invites fans to tweet its hashtag, #VolvoContest, during other car brands’ Super Bowl commercials. This contest asks fans to nominate someone they feel deserves to win a new Volvo XC60. Volvo says it wants to focus on real people rather than its own marketing message. Check out their promotional video here:

Volvo-Video

The Who Would You Put in a Volvo? Contest details are on their promotional website www.volvointerception.com. The contest starts when the game starts, at 6:30 pm on Sunday. Once the participate see another car commercial they have to tweet using the #volvocontest hashtag and state who they would put in a brand new Volvo.

After the required Tweet is sent,  Volvo will send a Tweet back to that participant with a link to the contest’s entry form. Participant then needs to fill out and submit the entry form and include a statement identifying  who their nominee is and why they are nominating this person. Nominee statement must be no more than 75 words and nominee must be a living person in the U.S. who has a valid driver’s license and 18 years of age of older. Each participant can nominate only one person and should have that person’s permission before they nominate them.

Volvo-ContestAt the end of the contest period, which is 11:59 pm ET, a panel of judges will choose 5 potential winners based on the following criteria: (a) extent to which the Nominee demonstrates passion for the Volvo brand (10%); (b) extent to which the Nominee demonstrates generosity of spirit (30%); (c) extent to which the Nominee demonstrates how they inspire (30%) and (d) overall impression(30%).

Once the winners are verified  5  prizes will be awarded to the nominees, not the winners. Each nominee will receive a Volvo XC60 along with a $5,000 check. Total prize value is $46,205. The nominee will be responsible for all taxes, registration, insurance and title.

Now Volvo isn’t a sponsor of the NFL or Super Bowl, so they have been very careful in all their promotional communications, including the Contest Official Rules, not to mention the Super Bowl. Instead they refer to it as the “professional football championship game taking place on February 1, 2015, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona”. I would think that the other car brands that have paid big money to run their ads (BMW, Kia, Lexus, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz) are not happy with this promotion either. You can view some of the ads that will be running here on YouTube’s AdBlitz.

I’m looking forward to watching “The Big Game” this Sunday and eating some chicken wings. Hope it’s at least a good one, not like last year’s blowout! Don’t forget to vote for your favorite ad here on AdBlitz.

Our hometown, Rochester, NY, has been selected as the hometown winner in the Pepsi Hyped for Halftime, Hype Your Hometown Contest. This national contest invited people to bring halftime to their hometown and also win tickets to this year’s Pepsi Super Bowl XLIX Halftime show featuring Katy Perry.

Haley Biemiller a 19 year old from Irondequoit (a Rochester suburb) calls herself Katy Perry’s biggest fan. She organized her family and friends to enter the contest more than 500 times. Pepsi’s judges chose Haley and 17 other grand prize winners from Rochester. They will each choose a guest for a total of 39 lucky people who will be receiving round-trip airfare to Arizona, 5 day/3 night hotel accommodations at a Scottsdale resort and passes to be on the field and to see Katy Perry during the Super Bowl Halftime show in the University of Phoenix Stadium.

The contest invited participants to submit either photos or videos that matched the Hyped for Halftime theme. Each participant was allowed up to 5 submissions a day during the contest period which ran from November 26 – December 29, 2014. So Haley set up a photo studio in her house where she took hundreds of photos of her local group that included Pepsi products and “Hyped for Halftime” posters and props. The group made sure everyone submitted the maximum of five entries per day, every day.

All approved submissions are still displayed in the contest’s photo gallery on the website. Lindsay Balzano, one of the winners also from Irondequoit was quoted as saying “When we looked at the site, we made up a good majority of all the collective photos,” she said. “We had 86 pages of just Rochester people of 126 total pages.” Lindsay received the phone call notifying her that she was a winner while out to dinner with Hailey and another friend. “I got so excited and I couldn’t hear because I was so happy about it,” she said. “Haley’s face got bright red and she started crying. It was indescribable.”
The submissions were judged by an independent panel based on originality and creativity; embodiment of the “Hyped for Halftime” campaign; total hometown participation; and public voting. Rochester submitted a total 509 entries, which was selected as the Hometown Prize winner.

So now Pepsi is bringing the hype to Rochester. This Sunday, Jan. 18, they will be hosting a free concert in downtown Rochester featuring pop/hip-hop duo Nico & Vinz. The duo is best known for their single, “Am I Wrong”. According to this Democrat & Chronicle article in our local newspaper, Pepsi will also be delivering some extra hype with surprises popping up around Rochester leading up to the event including a mobile Hype Squad and vending machines that will offer a chance to win VIP passes or meet and greets.

During last week’s playoff game on Saturday between the Patriots and the Ravens, Katy Perry announced that she invited Lenny Kravitz to be one of her special guests joining her during the Super Bowl Halftime show. She hinted that there may be others to announce soon. More than 115 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s show.

This weekend we have two more great football games between four teams to watch. In my last Super Bowl post I mentioned that I was routing for the Green Bay Packers who are now moving on in the Road to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately the season ended for the Cowboys, Bronco’s, Panthers and the Ravens. However, the excitement for next season for the Buffalo Bills has risen tremendously here with the announcement that Rex Ryan is the new head coach! Can’t wait.

Yes, we are based in Rochester, NY and our company had nothing to do with this contest.

The Seattle Seahawks managed to get back in the game this past Sunday and beat the Green Bay Packers in overtime — after being behind for much of the entire game. So that means they’re again headed to the Super Bowl. They play against the New England Patriots, who beat the Indianapolis Colts in a no game in the rain, 45-7. However there is an issue whether the game balls were intentionally deflated. Not that the NFL needed one more problem to add to their worries this season. The League is investigating whether the Patriots actually deflated balls to make them easier to grip in the heavy rain. But the game will go on in Arizona on February 1 as planned!

My home town of Rochester, NY won the Hyped for Halftime Contest and instead of watching the Patriots hammer the Colts, many people here enjoyed a free connect downtown sponsored by Pepsi. The concert featured hip-hop duo Nico & Vinz known for their hit “Am I Wrong”. It also included a special appearance from the Buffalo Bills brand new head coach, Rex Ryan, and their rookie of the year wide receiver, Sammy Watkins. There was also small, private meet-and-greet sessions with these celebrities that people could win through radio giveaways or select cans of Pepsi that were being dispensed from the free vending machines. See this huge Pepsi display in the entrance of our East Ave. Wegmans store. I tried to get a free can from this one, but it was empty!

YouTube’s AdBlitz is back for another year, allowing people to view and choose their favorite campaigns from Super Bowl ads. This year the site will live stream their own halftime show. So instead of watching Katy Perry’s Halftime Show from the stadium, viewers can turn to YouTube where they will feature more than 20 YouTube creators and musicians including Harley Morenstein from Epic Meal Time, Freddie Wong, Rhett & Link, and Toby Turner, among others.

At the conclusion of the Super Bowl game, viewers are invited to cast their vote on the site for their favorite Super Bowl commercials. Voting will last a week, ending on Feb. 9, and then the winners will be revealed. The site also will have a post-game content gallery where advertisers can continue the conversation with their viewers by providing behind-the-scenes footage of their Super Bowl spot.

Last year Budweiser was considered to have “won” the TV ad game with its “Puppy Love” spot, despite the fact that it didn’t air until the last minutes of a blowout game. But Budweiser had posted the ad on YouTube a week in advance and it spread. So Budweiser plans to do the same this year with three ads, including a sequel to “Puppy Love.” Can’t wait for that.

The spot generated over 54 million online views and over 2.6 million social interactions. To compare, that’s twice the number of online views and five times the social interaction rate of the second-ranking spot, the Jaguar “Rendezvous” campaign — which also had significant pre-game buildup.

We now continue down the Road to the Super Bowl and have a week and a half to get further hyped for the game. Honestly I don’t really care who wins this Super Bowl game, but I will be watching nonetheless.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Happy New Year and here’s to a great 2015!

Now that the holidays are behind us it means that we’re in football playoff season and the Super Bowl is quickly approaching. Each January I continue to cover the ads and promotional campaigns associated with this event that seems to gets bigger and bigger each year. This year Super Bowl XLIX will be played in the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on February 1. Here’s what the Playoff picture looks like this year:

SuperBowl 49 Playoffs

Now the NFL has had a tough year to say the least. Today the headlines state that the league reportedly told the Lions on Tuesday that the Dallas Cowboys benefited from a second crucial call that went uncalled in their victory over Detroit in the wild-card round this past weekend (and it wasn’t the controversial pick up the flag call). If you’re a lions fan, hearing this doesn’t really matter. The Cowboys are moving on (and Christie is happy!).

This all still doesn’t stop the Super Bowl from being one of the most watched sporting events along with all the marketing that is associated with it. Last year most of the advertisers released their TV spots prior to the actual broadcast of the game. So we expect to see much more of that this year. The game last year was played outside in MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey and New York celebrated with weeklong events leading up to the game.

Doritos-Crash-Contest-2015PepsiCo, the parent company of Doritos, is back again for their Annual Crash the Super Bowl Video Contest. They just announced the 10 finalist videos which were chosen from among nearly 4,900 submissions. This number is up from 3,500 entries last year. Two videos will air during the Super Bowl XLIX broadcast; one will be chosen by accumulating the most worldwide votes from the contest site and the other by a panel of judges chosen by Doritos. The public is invited to vote once per day, per device up till Jan. 28.

This year’s contest Official Rules list legal residents of 31 countries who were eligible to enter, as long as they have a valid YouTube account. Each of the 10 finalists, including the two winning finalists, will receive a Game Trip for themselves and a guest which includes airfare and hotel. Each finalist will receive a ticket to watch the game from the Doritos suite and their guest will watch the Game at a private party hosted by Doritos. The finalist that accumulates the most votes will be the Grand Prize winner who, besides the Game Trip and the airing of their video during the Super Bowl broadcast, will receive $1,000,000 and the opportunity for a “Dream Job” at Universal Pictures! Of the remaining 9 Finalists the Doritos’ judges will choose the First Prize Winner who receives only a mere $50,000. The remaining 8 Finalists also will each receive $25,000. That is one huge prize pool!

So who’s teams will make it to this year’s Super Bowl? Will we see a return of the Seattle Seahawks who heavily defeated the Denver Broncos last year? Most are saying it’s going to be the New England Patriots returning against Seattle. But the Patriots have to win over the Baltimore Ravens this weekend, who are pretty hot right now! I would love to see Green Bay beat Seattle for the spot, even though I was not a fan of Green Bay when Buffalo beat them a few weeks ago. Yes, us Buffalo fans are in the mist of quite a soap opera right now during our 14th constitutive year of not making the playoffs. Looking for a new head coach and couple of quarterbacks to help break the curse!

I’ll be covering more NFL Super Bowl news next week, so please stay tuned.

I hope 2014 was good  to you and that you’ve been enjoying this holiday season. I’ve established a end-of-the-year tradition which is to write my last post of the year as a review of what I’ve written about during the past year. I feel it’s a nice way for us all to reflect on the past year before we look forward to what the new year will bring.

So here’s a look back at some of the top posts from this blog that I felt reflected either a major shift in the promotional marketing industry, a new trend or a personal or business highlight.  I have written 47 blog posts this past year, including this one, which is almost one a week, published mostly on Wednesdays.

January – Intuit’s Small Business Big Game Contest winner is one Super Bowl Ad we haven’t seen yet – My January posts mostly cover the Super Bowl and all the marketing, advertising and promotions that go with it. Super Bowl 48 was the first in a cold-weather outdoor stadium that most of us could ever recall while we also were experiencing some really COLD winter temperatures.  Most of the advertisers decided this past year to post their spots online before the game, except for Intuit. The small business contest winner’s ad was broadcast during the game for the first time and the winner was Goldie Blox. Check out their ad here.

February – Thank You Mom Campaign from P&G Scores Gold at the Olympic Games – Sochi hosted the Winter Olympic Games and Team USA had an amazing year. What was so special about the games was hearing some of the personal stories of the athletes. P&G’s “Pick Them Back Up” TV spot hit the emotional nail on the head. As of today it has over 20 million views here on YouTube.

March – Video contest from Experience Kissimmee Utilizes Instagram – Instagram had an amazing year and this was one of the first posts of the year I wrote highlighting a video contest we worked on for Kissimmee Florida.  Instagram recently announced that they hit 300 million monthly users, up from 200 million from March, and have now surpassed Twitter.

April – Tourism Australia offers 52 chances to visit now, not Someday – I worked with Australia Tourism and their agency to help launch the Someday campaign. It was in partnership with Virgin Australia and Delta Airlines, their first joint U.S. marketing campaign, which gave away 52 amazing trips to Australia. Each trip was valued at $7,800 totaling over $400K in prizes. Many of the lucky winners will be taking their trip well into 2015.

May – FTC publically addresses compliance violation with Pinterest contest – the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) updated its Endorsement Guidelines after it completed an investigation into a Pinterest-based contest conducted by Cole Haan. The ruling impacts all social media promotions, particularly those that encourage user-generated content to be created and shared, and not just on Pinterest, but all other social media platforms.

June –  Contests, Games, Hashtags and Videos promote the 2014 Word Cup –  Once team USA won it’s first match against Guana US fans got very excited about the games and helped to make it the most social sporting event ever. John Brooks became a star overnight and his #daretodream posts. However, it was the Germans that walked away with the final trophy. We’ll see what we can do in Russia in 2018.

July – Hershey’s Experience Sweepstakes from Menchie’s launches and Shortstack introduces their new Campaign Builder – With this summer promotion I was able to use my favorite Facebook app to create a sweepstakes campaign that not only was installed to a Facebook page, but existed online as well. This sweepstakes campaign collected entries from both methods all going into one database.

August – Facebook no longer Likes a Like-Gate – Facebook announced in early August that it would no longer allow apps that make it mandatory to like the page in order to enter a promotion. They gave developers 90 days to adapt to the change that officially went into effect on November 5. Most recently they have also announced that they will restrict Facebook status updates from pages that strictly promote entering a promotion.

September – Rules, Guidelines and Etiquette of Business Social Media – After attending the 3rd Annual Summit on Digital Advertising Compliance for Social Media, Sweepstakes & Promotion in NYC in early September, I came away with the fact that there are so many grey areas when it comes to social media. So I included a infographic in this post titled “How to Mind Your Manners on Social Media” and still feel that it rings so true.

October  -#CheckYourself, new music video from Avon honoring Breast Cancer Awareness month Each October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month I write a least one post promoting the cause. This year it was about a powerful PSA from the Avon Foundation for Women which featured a new music video created with and by Paula Abdul along with Alex Cairo, a young and up and coming copywriter who wrote the lyrics and is the daughter of  Gene Cairo, the President of American Sweepstakes Company.

November – Sweepstakes, Contests, Disclosure & Digital/Social Media Updates from the Annual Marketing Law Conference – I was back again in Chicago for the 36th Annual Marketing Law Conference hosted by the BAA/PMA. This post includes a summary of what Linda Goldstein from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, aka the Sweepstakes Diva, shared with us.

December – Cheddar’s Cafes Home for the Holidays Contest invites Brand Advocates to vote – During the month of December I wrote about several Holiday promotions that we were working on for clients. This one from Cheddar Cafes involved a essay contest that included voting. They received 1,350 entries and the winner, Ross Kelly, has her story posted on their Facebook page.

I hope you enjoyed the review. Thanks again for reading! I wish you a very Happy New Year and here’s to a wonderful, healthy and prosperous 2015.

The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.

From our family to yours we wish you a very Happy Holiday!

Ancestry-HolidayBeing together with family and friends is what makes the holidays so special. Our sister company, Alliance Sweepstakes, worked with the team over at Ancestry to kick off their annual “10 Days of Holiday Giving”. The Sweepstakes, which runs December 15-24, is a way for Ancestry to give back to their community.

To enter the sweepstakes participants are invited to visit the Ancestry Facebook page  facebook.com/AncestryUS each day during the promotion. Ancestry will ask a question and participates need to answer the question or submit a photo, which will be considered their entry into the daily giveaway.

ancestry-SongsFor Day Two of their “Ten Days of Holiday Giving” Ancestry asked fans to  share what their favorite carol or song that puts you in the holiday spirit! Several comments included Perry Como’s “No Place Like Home for the Holidays” and “White Christmas” by Elvis Presley. Mine favorite is “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon.

A random drawing will be done after each day from all those that entered to determine the daily winners. Each daily winner will receive an Ancestry prize package for themselves and another to give to a family member of friend.  Day One prize included a 3-month World Deluxe Membership to Ancestry.com.

Ancestry is the world’s leading resource for online family history & genealogy. You can start building your family tree at their website, ancestry.com.
