Sweepstakes giveaways on Instagram have been very popular this past year and will most likely continue to be in 2020 as well. We’ve assisted with a few of them recently for a brand called Just BARE Chicken which is owned by a company called Pilgrim’s Pride located in Colorado. Their brand’s mission is to provide people with safe, wholesome, high-quality products from chickens that are raised with care. They are constantly providing healthy and delicious chicken recipes to help make putting dinner on the table easy, fun and nutritious.

As a tie-in to the football fall season they recently launched the Just BARE Chicken Pick 6 Sweepstakes on their Instagram page @justbarechicken. People are invited to visit the page and look for one of the sweepstakes promotion posts and then comment on the post by tagging up to six of their friends. The original participant and the friends that they tag must also all be following @justbarechicken on Instagram.

Each week during the sweepstakes period, for five weeks, there is a new post that features a football tail-gate related prize package that changes slightly. This week’s prize package features a canopy tent and last’s weeks featured this portable beer pong table.  Each prize package includes the main weekly prize plus a reclining lawn chair, a 2-piece grill set, a ring toss hat, a football helmet grill, a JBL speaker and a Sidekick cooler for a total of seven items. By swiping the weekly prize post on Instagram people can see photos of all the other items included in the package. Each winner is encouraged to share the prize package with the friends that they tagged in their post.

There are three more weeks to go now in this sweepstakes which will each feature more tail-gate related prizes such as a Margarita Machine, a Putterball and a MonsterMeshPod. Each prize package has a value of approximately $430 each. So it’s a nice total prize package.

We’ve been working through the brand’s agency, OsbornBarr, out of their St. Louis office. As the Sweepstakes Administrator we review their proposed social media posts and draft the official rules for each sweepstakes making sure each one is compliant. The agency has been notifying the winners directly on Instagram each week.

It’s Summertime, which means it’s grilling season and chicken is one of the most popular food items for the grill. We recently helped launch a sweepstakes promotion for the brand “Just BARE Chicken” who is owned by parent company Pilgrim’s.  The brand’s mission is to fuel people with wholesome, clean, responsible protein and it all starts with raising their chickens humanely on family farms.

Their #ThighsForTheWin Sweepstakes launched in early July and will continue through mid August. To enter people have to either visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JustBAREChicken/ or their Instagram Page at www.instagram.com/justbarechicken/.

Once on either page they need to look for the sweepstakes promotional post and comment on the post by choosing which one of the chicken recipe dishes featured in the post they like the most and include the hashtags #ThighsForTheWin and #Sweepstakes which will earn them an entry into the sweepstakes. Two weekly random drawings, one from all the Facebook entries and on efrom all Instagram entries are being conducted per week for a total of six weeks.

The Sweepstakes is giving away a total of 24 prizes and each one of them is a different summer item. The post on Facebook today is giving away a Chicken Pool Float. Some of the other prizes include floating pool wine glasses, custom branded corn hole boards, tiki torches, a YETI cooler, a Weber Portable Grill set and many more.

During the final week of the sweepstakes, the week of August 12, a new promotional post will be added to both their Facebook and their Instagram pages. This post will ask fans to vote on which of four designated cities,  St. Louis, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City, deserves to be the recipient of a Sponsor’s block party. So the City that receives the most votes from that post will receive a block party put on by Just BARE Chicken which will take place at an existing event within that city.

If you’re wondering where you can purchase this brand you can check on their website. We’ve actually been working with the brand’s agency, Osborn Barr, who we’ve helped run some sweepstakes for a couple of their other clients, but this is the first one for this brand.

Based on the current Facebook post the smokey almond & chicken mole recipe is the most popular per fan comments.

I love June which is known for it’s long days, gardens that are in bloom and the official kick-off to summer. It’s also a very busy month with graduations, weddings and Father’s Day which is this Sunday, June 16. I personally have already been to one wedding and know of several others planned for this month. Marketers are also busy this month with promoting their products and services around the seasonal events.

We haven’t seen much promotions from our client’s around Father’s Day this year, but this one caught my attention as pretty unique. Kraft Heinz’s Bagel Bites has teamed up again with pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, who is a father of six, with a social media campaign that they have named the “Rad Dad Squad”.  Apparently back in 2002, Hawk appeared in a Bagel Bites ad and critics called him “Bagel Boy,” in which Hawk defended himself stating that he really was a consumer of the snack.

So a faux-interview-format teaser video was posted on Hawk’s Instagram and YouTube channels to launch this new campaign, which is titled “Tony Hawk sells out. Again.”

The next part of the campaign announces the #RadDadSquad Sweepstakes which is shown in the second video below.  Here Hawk is engaging in goofy activities with his own kids. The Sweepstakes invites people to post a photo or video showing a “Rad Dad” sharing a fun moment with their kids either on Instagram or Twitter. They also need to include the #RadDadSquad and #Sweepstakes hashtags in the caption.

There are three entry period in the Sweepstakes. The first drawing will be held on Father’s Day, June 16. The next drawing on June 21 and the last drawing June 24. All posts need to be completed by June 23. There will be a one Grand Prize winner for each entry period. The three winning dads will each get to take up to three guests on a trip to Vista, California to meet with Tony Hawk on August 3, 2019.

At least two of the guests must be minors, so presumably the winner will take their kids. The trip prize package includes round trip air transportation for up to four people, two nights’ hotel accommodations, a $250 allowance for a rental car, $250 spending money, a $2,000 check that may be used to assist with tax liability and a three hour party at Tony Hawk’s skate ramp including lunch and skate demo by Tony Hawk and his team of skaters. Winners must agree to be filmed during the Tony Hawk event.

The first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs started on Saturday, April 14. Each team from both the Eastern and the Western Conference will play the best out of seven games in order to see who moves on to the semi-finals. Now I’m not a huge NBA fan, but I do know some things about basketball. The Denver Nuggets are one of the teams in the Western Conference that has made the playoffs and we are assisting one of our clients, Real World Marketing, with a sweepstakes for the Rocky Mountain Honda Dealers Association (RMHD) for their Denver Nuggets Signed Jersey Giveaway.

Here’s how this Giveaway works. Fans from Colorado can enter for a chance to win a signed jersey either on the RMHD’s Facebook page or their Instagram page. They then must find the post on either page that refers to the giveaway and comment on the post by answering the following two questions:

Question #1: How many games will this best of seven series with the Denver Nuggets go? Question #2: What will be the total score of the final game in this series? However, If the Denver Nuggets lose a game and are out of the playoffs at any time during the Sweepstakes Periods the two questions that the fans will then need to answer will change to include Denver Nuggets related trivia questions instead. Fans have to enter both questions correctly to be entered into the drawing.

The Denver Nuggets are matched up with the San Antonio Spurs for this first round. They played their first game on Saturday and lost to the Spurs 101-96. However they won their second game on Tuesday, 114 – 105 with quite the comeback. So the series is currently tied 1 – 1. The next game is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, in which the teams will travel to San Antonio.

Now this sweepstakes actually has three entry periods. The first entry period started on April 13 and ends on April 28 to cover Round 1. The next entry period runs May 2-12 to cover the semifinals and the last entry period runs May 14-26 covering the finals. So if the Nuggets stay in it the two questions will remain the same for each period. But if they lose and are out of the playoffs they change to Denver Nuggets trivia questions. Fans that enter both questions correctly during each entry period will receive an entry into the drawing for that entry period. At the end of each entry period a random drawing will be conducted to determine the winner of the jersey. A total of three signed jerseys will be awarded.

Last year we started working with RealWorld Marketing, an advertising and marketing agency firm that focuses solely on Acura and Honda. They currently work with over 20 Honda and Acura associations throughout the U.S. and provide marketing and advertising services exclusively to these association with the goal to help increase Acura and Honda sales. This promotion is a fun way for the RMHD to capitalize on their sponsorship of the Denver Nuggets.

Tomorrow, 4/26, if the first round of the NFL draft which runs till 4/28. If you are a fan of the Cleveland Browns, the NY Giants or, like me, the Buffalo Bills, this draft season is a big one for our teams. There is so much speculation on who’s going to draft who and who is going to trade to get an earlier pick.  Cleveland didn’t win a game last season, so they have first pick and the Giants are second. The Bills really need to draft a quarterback and there are four really good QB players up for grabs this year, so we’re anxious to see what they do.

Pizza Hut is getting in on the action this week since they now have the official sponsorship with the NFL. They picked up the day after previous sponsor, Papa John’s announced it was dropping its affiliation last February. Pizza Hut has recruited Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to take part in their campaign. The player is featured in the ad shown below demonstrating the “Doorbell Dance”, the moves he makes when the doorbell rings celebrating the arrival of a Pizza Hut delivery. Pizza Hut is using this to generate buzz by calling on others to submit their best doorbell dances for a chance to win a trip to an NFL regular season game of their choice.

The Pizza Hut Doorbell Dance Video Sweepstakes invites participants to post an original video of themselves doing a “doorbell dance”, a dance you may do when your doorbell rings and your pizza arrives, and also include the hashtags #PizzaHutHut and #sweepstakes in their post to receive one entry. All entries must be posted to Instagram by 11:59 pm on 4/28. Participants may also receive an entry without posting a video by submitting their information on a 3 x 5 card through the mail. A random drawing at the end of the sweepstakes will determine one winner who will receive a trip for them and a guest to a 2018 NFL football game of their choice on or before Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Pizza Hut is also running what they are calling the “Pi Pick” promotion. This will be the 78th pick of the draft which will be the fourteenth selection in the third round off the draft. The Pi Pick player will receive a year’s worth of free pizza and a pizza party in their honor in the new hometown team that selects him. The Pi Pick will also receive other additional perks from Pizza Hut, including retro brand swag, gift cards for teammates, and more.

At the actual draft Pizza Hut will be hosting an event outside the Cowboys’ Arlington, Texas, stadium where fans can showcase and record doorbell dances, compete in a delivery shuttle obstacle course and sample pizza in a lounge. On social media, they will be giving away pizzas on a random basis, and promoting a special deal good during the Draft (two medium pizzas, an order of wings and bread sticks starting at $19.99).

“One of the things we love about Pizza Hut is that as a new partner, they are committed to bringing even more excitement and entertainment to the NFL draft, one of the marquee events on the NFL calendar,” NFL Partnerships, Sponsorship and Consumer Products Senior Vice President Renie Anderson, said in a release. “Pizza Hut wants to leverage the draft as a national platform to bring more value to the home watching experience, and we are thrilled to see them activating in new and unique ways.”

So us fans in New York will finally have a better idea of what this upcoming 2018 season will look like after this week. However, we’ve made some top picks before that didn’t work out. So you never know!

Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18. It appears that this holiday has become almost as huge as Mother’s Day for marketers to get their products and services out if front of consumers. I wrote this post a couple of weeks ago about “Grads and Dads” that included the Templeton Rye Whiskey Sweepstakes as well as a shout out about my daughter’s graduation from veterinary school. So here’s a couple more Father’s Day Sweepstakes from our client, American International Industries (AII Beauty), that we’re assisting with.

AII Beauty also did run a couple of Mother’s Day sweepstakes that I featured in this post, which makes sense because the majority of their brands are beauty products targeted to women. But they do have a few brands for men. The first sweepstakes was for their CLUBMAN Pinaud brand which just ended on June 12. The brand was originally founded in France in 1810, and today its CLUBMAN line of men’s toiletries can be found in virtually every barber shop and men’s club across the United States. These products include colognes, after shave lotions, skin and hair tonics, talcs, deodorants, hair-care products and shave creams.

The current sweepstakes if for their Woody’s For Men brand which is running just till Saturday, June 17. This brand includes men’s grooming products that are directed at the man who is looking for a simple, comfortable daily regimen that offers basic, no-frill products that smell good and get the job done. These include various hair, shaving, body and styling products. They state that these products combine the cool, laid back attitude of surf culture with the style and quality desired by Hollywood’s finest.

A post announcing each sweepstakes ran on each brands Facebook and Instagram sites. The CLUBMAN Pinaud Father’s Day Giveaway asked people to like the post and add a comment that described their memory of their first barbershop experience with their dad. They drew a total of 10 prize winners, 5 from all those that participated on their Facebook page and five from their Instagam page . Each winner received a 9 piece Beard & Shave Kit, a Shave Brush, Hair Tonic and three 6 oz. After Shaves all valued at $235. One Facebook winner posted “Wow thank you. This will be a great gift for my dad.”

The Woody’s For Men  Father’s Day Giveaway also asked people to like the post and the comment they needed to add was to describe a best memory with their dad, or as a dad. 10 prize winners will again be drawn, 5 from all those that participated on their Facebook page and five from their Instagam page. These winners will each receive a 3 piece Body Care Kit, a Woody’s Barber Cape, 1 Love Grenade, 1 Woody’s Cologne and 1 Beard Stuff Kit all valued at $155. My daughters will have to wait till the end of July to celebrate Father’s Day with their dad, which will be the next time we all get together. In the meantime I’m taking him out to dinner on Sunday. Happy Father’s Day to all.

This Sunday, May 14, is Mother’s Day. The Internet has been full of ads and emails with many gift suggestions for mom. Seems like everyone, retailers, brands, restaurants, all have a way on how best to celebrate the moms in our lives. It appears that they are using every media channel available, and social media has been playing a bigger role each year.

We’re assisting with the sweepstakes administration for a Mother’s Day sweepstakes that is available on Instagram. This year we started working with a company called American International Industries (AII Beauty). You probably wouldn’t recognize their name because they are more commonly known by their over 60 different beauty and skin care brands. These brands include Andrea, Ardell, Body Drench, Checi, China Glaze, Clean + Easy, Clubman, EzFlow, Fright Night, Gena, GiGi, ibd, ‘N Rage, ProLinc, SuperNail, Surgi-Care, Tres Flores, and Youthair to name a few. They run many sweepstakes each month for their brands, most all of them on the different Instagram pages of each brand.

Yesterday the Tan Gorgeous Mother’s Day Giveaway Sweepstakes started with promotes both their Ardell Lashes and their Body Drench brands. Fans are invited to enter via the Instagram pages of either @ardell_lashes or @bodydrench. They must follow both @ardell lalshes and @bodydrench and like the Sweepstakes promotional post on each page. They must also share the post on @bodydrench and comment on the post on @ardell_lashes in response to the question: What’s your favorite memory with your mom? Each completed task on each page will receive one entry into the Sweepstakes.

One winner from each Instagram page will each receive one Tan Gorgeous Collection valued at $75 and a $100 worth of Ardell Lashes.

The team at ShortStack sent us a copy of this Mother’s Day promotion that was done for a company called The Good Guys. Shortstack is the platform that we use to create online entry pages for some of our client’s sweepstakes and contests. This #CelebrateMum contest asks participants to nominate their mom or a mother-figure who inspires them to win a grand prize worth over $1,500.

The contest also asks them to chose one of three charities – Miracle Babies Foundation, McGrath Foundation, and Ngala – to win a cash prize. The charity who gets the most votes will receive $1,000, and the other two will each receive $500. They feature a ‘Learn More’ button below each charity to help participants decide which one to vote for.

Four years ago on Mother’s Day I spent the day with both my daughters attending the graduation of our youngest daughter, Alex, from the University of Buffalo. This year I will spend the weekend after Mother’s Day with both of them again and we’ll be attending the graduation ceremony for Alex who has now graduated from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine which is located in St. Kitts. The ceremony will be held at the University of Miami. We are all so proud of her. She is now working as a Veterinarian at Ruth Helen Wolf Animal Hospital in Libertyville, IL, just outside of Chicago.

I wrote about this platform in last week’s post about the Yes You Cran Sweepstakes. Ease of entry is the biggest benefit of using a hashtag only entry, plus it provides additional social sharing that can help increase the reach of the promotion. The platform pulls in all the posts from Twitter and Instagram that use the promotion-specific hashtag and shows these posts in the gallery page as you see here.
